The major acts lineup has been announced, major sponsors have come along for the party, all that’s left now is tickets to sell out and March 29th to approach. Hurry up damn it!
I have my shiny ticket to the Gold Coast - Avica Resort - V Festival on the 30th March, 2008 and am amped! This years major acts lineup is incredible, including The Smashing Pumpkins, Queens of the Stone Age, The Jesus & Mary Chain, AIR, The Presets, Modest Mouse, Cut Copy and Hot Hot Heat. A shell-shocker list of up and coming acts as well as established legends in their own music genres. Absorbing all that is The Smashing Pumpkins, AIR and Queens of the Stone Age will be my personal feat for the day.
This is the second V Festival to land in Australia and has quickly entrenched itself as one of the major highlights of Australian music festival calendar, competing alongside Big Day Out and Splendor in the Grass. Atendees from last year’s V Festival dressed to a cult 90’s pop theme with fluorescent sunglasses, bright casual clothing and as many accessories as possible. Guys too.
The organisers ability to ‘fly in’ classic U.S. and European acts on-demand sets itself apart from other Australian festivals who are dependent on artist touring schedules. Seeing AIR and Modest Mouse in Australia is practically unheard of.
The Gold Coast event is hosted in an open-stage environment at Avica Resort - assembled on a world-class golf course - which allows atendees to explore multiple stages and seek refuge from acoustic bombardment with food and drink areas nearby, alcohol is readily available. Get your drink cards before you enter from the Tickets booth. The day is set to be awesome, I can’t wait! Holler back in the comments below if you’re coming and which event!
Note: Jagger-bombs were not available at the 2007 event, they mixed Jaggermeister and Red Bull in a cup and gave it to you. That’s equal to being slapped to the face. Thoughts?

I would just to say that I have been looking forward to going to the V festival for ages as it is my first one I have been to heaps of other events like Big Day Out and Homebake, but never had this problem, I have just seen the timetable for the V festival 2008 in Sydney and and I can’t believe that the Smashing Pumpkins and The Presets are playing at the same time and Duran Duran are pretty playing the same time as both give or take 15mins, I am so disappointed as I spent $136.00 for ticket so that I could see all of those bands play and now I have only the option of seeing one. What a waste of time and my money considering the event goes for 9 hours and the 3 best bands are all playing at the same time, I am going to try to sell my ticket!!
We absolutely agree with Melissas comments - we are from Sydney and flew up to QLD for the V Festival 2008 too, so its like a mini holiday.
We cannot believe that ANY event organiser could overlook the draw of the top 5 acts (Smashing Pumpkins, Duran Duran, The Presets, Queens of the Stone Age and AIR) and be so ignorant to schedule them with overlapping times, so you either miss the the whole begining or end of each of those acts.
Its so disappointing considering the cost of the ticket, and the quality organisation of similar events (BDO, Homebake, Good Vibrations)
Interested in knowing some of the songs the pumpkins played. Going in perth today. Was there a good mix of the old stuff in there? or was it a bit of a promotion of their new stuff?
cheers in advance
